Why new designs are worth catching early

Every design needs its own steel die, so releases are produced in batches rather than made to order. Early in a release you get the full choice of designs within a series. Later on, the popular ones tend to be the first to go.

What counts as new

Sometimes it is a brand new theme, sometimes a new series joining an existing family, and sometimes a seasonal design returning in a fresh casting. Seasonal releases in particular are worth watching, since they are produced for a window rather than kept in permanent stock.
