Winter Virtual Challenges
Beat the winter slump with a medal to chase.
Winter virtual challenges exist because winter is when most training plans die. Dark at four, cold, wet, and no event on the horizon until spring. A challenge with a medal attached is a far more reliable motivator than good intentions.

Why virtual beats organised events in winter
Nothing gets cancelled because of ice, nobody travels two hours to stand in a field at 8am, and there is no cut-off time to worry about when conditions are slow. You go when it is safe and sensible to go.
Indoors counts
Treadmills, exercise bikes, rowers and pool lengths all count towards your distance. That single fact is what gets people through January, because it removes the excuse that the weather has made training impossible.
Build the distance across the month
Winter is a good time to take on one of the longer distances precisely because you can spread it out. Three miles a day quietly adds up to a 100 mile challenge across a month, and having a running total to protect is powerful on the evenings you would rather not bother.
Stay visible, stay upright
If you are out in the dark, wear something reflective, pick lit routes and be careful on ice. Nothing about our challenges rewards taking a risk to hit an arbitrary deadline.
